Accessibility Statement for Sandpit

This is an accessibility statement from Crowdfnd Campus Ltd.

This statement applies to the Sandpit website at sandpit.cc, and the Sandpit teaching web application at app.sandpit.cc. Both are referred to collectively in this statement as Sandpit.

Measures to support accessibility

Crowdfnd Campus Ltd takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Sandpit:

  • Including accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Assigning clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

On Sandpit, you should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate the application using just a keyboard
  • Navigate the application using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader
  • View the website on a tablet or mobile device in either orientation

Please note that Sandpit relies heavily on user generated image and video content, and we cannot always guarantee the accessibility of such content (see 'Limitations and alternatives' below).

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Sandpit is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

Sandpit is not compatible with:

  • Browsers older than 3 major versions
  • Mobile operating systems older than 5 years

Technical specifications

Accessibility of Sandpit relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Sandpit, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

  1. Images uploaded by users: Uploaded images may not have text alternatives because they are submitted to Sandpit by users of the application and are not subject to an immediate review process by our staff. We are able to provide alternative transcripts of user content within 2 business days upon request.
  2. Videos uploaded by users: Uploaded videos may not contain closed captions because they are submitted to Sandpit by users of the application and are not subject to an immediate review process by our staff. We are able to provide a closed captioning service upon request.

Ongoing efforts to ensure accessible content

Crowdfnd Campus Ltd has assessed the accessibility of Sandpit by self-evaulation. We continually test content and functionality for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance to ensure we meet the standards to the best of our ability.

Testing of our digital content is routinely performed using automated testing software provided by Deque Corporation.
